Operation
Uplift, a Program of the Master of the Maryland District:
Operation Uplift was designed to uplift the spirits of our fighting sons
and daughters in Iraq and Afghanistan by giving them the opportunity to call
home for the Christmas Season. The project has become so popular that we are
expanding it to cover all of our servicemen and women, wherever, and as long as
there is a need...
The Knights of Columbus has purchased those magnetic ribbons which you see
on the backs of vehicles everywhere. We are selling them for $5.00 with
100% of the profits being used to purchase pre-paid phone
cards that will be distributed to our fighting sons and daughters overseas.
As of the Middle of October 2004, we have sold over
10 thousand dollars worth of these ribbons, just in our District.
The response has just been overwhelming. We could do so much more if we all
united under Operation Uplift. Will you and your Council or Assembly be a
part of our project?
Here's How it Works
- Step One: Contact the Pastor of the Church or Churches in which you
function as the K of C, asking permission to sell the ribbons outside of Church one weekend. (Please note: Large quantities of ribbons may take as long as
two weeks
to get to you). Ask also for the Pastor's blessing from the pulpit for this project the
week prior to and the week of your ribbon sales. His backing goes a long way
with the sales.
- Step Two: Estimate how many ribbons you will need for your sale and contact
us at one of the following:
- E-Mail: Operationuplift@aol.com
-
By Phone:
410-285-5857
- By Fax: 410-285-5889
- Please leave the following information: Your Name - Your Phone Number - Council
or Assembly Number - Date of your project - Number of Ribbons needed - We will contact you
for verification and shipping instructions.
- Step Three: Conduct your sale. Have at least one Knight at each of the
exits of the Church. If possible, set up a display table with the ribbons spread
out along with disclaimers to show how the funds will be used.
Be prepared to
reorder.
- Step Four: Repackage any unused ribbons you wish to return and contact us
at one of the contact points above. Make your checks payable to: K of C #12048.
You may
wish to keep the ribbons that are left as we have experienced an after sale
market. Our Church is still purchasing ribbons since September 11th, when this
project started.
- Step Five: Don't forget to thank those who made your sale a success. Ask
the Pastor(s) if he would post a thank you in the Sunday bulletin next week.
Let everyone know you appreciated their participation in your
program.
